Staying positive can be a challenge when the stress of Back-To-School hits. When we learn to Pave it Forward through the method of pre-paving, we can create a roadmap for the year that will lead us to health, family bliss and good grades!
Pre-paving is about choice. Reality is, people spend more time choosing what they are going to wear in the morning than they do choosing how they will connect with people, how they will feel or what they will accomplish. Pre-paving is a method of consciously choosing how you want to look, live, and feel through every part of your day and every part of your life.
Let’s explore some simple thoughts that will help you pre-pave the best year yet, for you and your family.
Forget the past, start fresh
Your beliefs become your intentions. If you believe back-to-school time will be stressful, then it will be so again this year. If you believe it will be expensive to outfit your children in the things they need, then you will find yourself financially strained. If you believe this year will bring the same challenges for your children in school, then you will find history repeating itself. Whatever happened last year is over. You’ve had the summer to refresh yourself and life is presenting you with a clean slate to create a brand new year ahead for you and your family. It starts with choosing thoughts that will pave the way for a great year. Make a list. Decide what you want this year, then pre-pave it! Here are some examples:
We find everything we need to start the school year easily and at a great price! We are abundant. We have everything we need. All of our needs are met, now and always. We have so much, that we are able to share our abundance with others. The kids are excited to get back to school. They are so smart. They love their teachers and enjoy their new school year. They surprise me with amazing grades this year. This is the year they shine! They love to do their homework. They are intrigued and interested with the projects. We really connect as a family. We respect each other and spend quality time together.
Don’t worry, be happy
Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair—you create a lot of motion, but you don’t get very far. Most important to know is that a worry-thought is a negative pre-pave. It lines up the energy for exactly what you don’t want to happen. As parents, we think worry is our job. We think it’s part of being a good parent, that it shows we care. Well, change that thought!
Whenever you start to worry about your children, you are not doing any good for them or you! Replace those thoughts with these pre-paves:
My children are healthy, safe and protected. They make smart choices. They are guided to do what is right and wrong. They choose friends who support them in a positive way. They are happy, well-adjusted and confident. A positive thought is one hundred times more powerful than a negative one. When you replace a worry-thought with a positive pre-pave you immediately wipe out the energy of the negative thought. The moment you pre-pave, the Universe works in, behind and around you to support that thought. Hold on to that positive thought and it will manifest.
Do not flip back between positive pre-paves and worries. Pre-pave positively then spend a moment in gratitude for what you have pre-paved. If you do this, it will come true. It is Universal Law.
Speak up, write your own lines! I facilitate a five-day retreat program and often show inspirational films as part of the learning process. One film in particular that I show holds a great message on this topic. The film is called Illusion starring Kirk Douglas. Douglas plays a man on his death-bed who is given a chance to make a difference in his son’s life. He is able to watch his son’s experiences on a movie screen, but along with the pictures and dialogue, he is also able to hear the inner dialogue of his son. He becomes aware that his son keeps rolling thoughts through his mind of negative pre-paves it is led to believe his father said to him, but in fact, the father did not say these things. The boy conjured up the negative thoughts on his own, assuming his father did not approve of who he was as a person.
Our children need more encouragement than we may realize. Their internal dialogue switch is always on. If they don’t hear encouraging words from us verbally, they will deduce for themselves what they think we are saying about them. Most often, they will turn to the dark thoughts unless otherwise told. In essence, if we don’t write our lines in our children’s minds, they will write them for us.
Speak up. Positively pre-pave for your children.
Here are some examples.
Tell them: You are so smart. We know you can do this. We know you will make the right decisions. We trust you. Whatever you attempt, you be successful at. You are so talented. We are so proud of you. We love you.
It is really very simple. By becoming conscious of your thoughts, then purposefully choosing them with positive pre-paving, you can create the family life you have always wanted.
Very simply, the steps are this:
1. Decide what you want, then pre-pave it! 2. Picture that you’ve pre-paved in your mind is already on the way! Feel it to be true! 3. Inwardly say “thank you”. Let it go and be happy. Seal the deal with gratitude!
You can pre-pave your day for success. Success is a choice. What are you choosing today?
