Intuitive Intelligence

by Sonia Choquette

Browsing through my favorite bookstore last week, in the self-development section as always as it is my favorite, I couldn't help but appreciate the many books on the shelf addressing our need for expanding our intelligence beyond just the intellect if we are to be fully informed and creatively effective in today's' modern world.

I saw numerous books on emotional intelligence, (the ability to read and understand emotional signals both from within and from others,) as well as social intelligence, (the ability to accurately perceive and interpret social signals and clues from others in a social situation,) both of which are arguably essential skills if we are to live the brilliantly unlimited lives we desire to live.

Yet, I was also struck by the absence of what I consider to be the most essential intelligence of all for ensuring the healthy, powerful, creative, grounded, protected, loving and loved fulfilling lives we all desire to experience; intuitive intelligence, (the ability to perceive and respond in a timely fashion to subtle energetic fields around us, including but not limited to those coming from others both near and far (telepathy) those coming from beyond linear time and space, (clairvoyance- or in other words clear viewing), and most importantly that which emanates from our Creator-our Source Intelligence (Divine Guidance.) All three realms, which together comprise intuition, represent our highest level of Human intelligence. It endows us with the ability to negotiate the rough and tumble confusion and chaos of life with grace and precision. Intuition is the deciding intelligence that helps us catch the waves of life before they arrive, instead of miss them, and ride them like champions, rather than be pummeled and tossed about by them, especially the ones we don't see coming, like a hapless victims.

Without intuition to inform us, we are left drowning in the dark of our own misinformed and confused perceptions, floundering to rise above our ravaging and fearful emotions, panting from the severe stress rendered upon our nervous systems, and grasping desperately for lifesavers as we try to "figure life out" before it kills us.

To be without our intuitive intelligence is to navigate the oceans of life in the dark, without a light. We get misled by half-truths, false perceptions, fears and projections, manipulated by appearances, and crushed by unexpected disappointments. We become reduced to survival, forced into "dog-eat-dog" consciousness, and view life as a threat, not the exhilarating adventure it is. If we are not intuitively informed, we become a menace to ourselves, and others, as we feel unsafe and unsure, trusting little to relive our internal anxiety.

In fact, I firmly believe, as Helen Keller so brilliantly demonstrated in her own challenged life, that without the use of our five senses but illuminated by the sixth, our intuition, we can not only function well, but we can leave such a huge and positive impact on others as to touch and improve the world forever, as she so profoundly did. Life with the five senses intact, however, and the sixth sense (intuition) dormant cannot ever, ever promise to do the same.

Intelligence limited to the five senses informs us in a highly limited and biased way, focusing exclusively on personal survival, manufacturing a "me against them" viewpoint, and causes one to perceive the entire world as a potential enemy that could do harm. A person operating with a mere five-senses defining questions are, "How am I different from others? What do they have that I don't, or vice versa? How do they judge me? How do I judge them? How can I control them so I feel safe?"

The six sensory intuitive viewpoint, on the other hand, shifts the perception and questions in life entirely. It illuminates the less than obvious truth that we are indeed, at our core, not different in any way from one another, by virtue of the fact that as we share the same breath. We see and know we are deeply connected with all human life. We are family, in fact. The intuitively informed questioner wonders not, "How are we different, " but rather, "How are we alike? How are we similar? What do we share in common? And most importantly "What can we create together for the good of both of us and all the world?"

These are the most intelligent questions we can ever ask ourselves today, and are the only ones that can lead us out of the fear and struggle that consumes us and into the experience of tranquility and confidence we long for. An intuitively illuminated life is therefore not a threatened one, but rather a peaceful, powerful one. With our perceptions broadened by our intuitive lens, we see past confusion, past reaction, past appearances, past our fears, past seeming obstacles, and limitations, and are guided toward hidden solutions, and means to positive connections and loving and creative outcomes. Intuition is the brilliant and bonding intelligence that removes the veil of illusion cast upon us by our limiting egos and illuminates the good in all, and for all. This is the only intelligence that will lead to global survival.

Sensing this intelligence is essential to human survival and evolution. We can no longer indulge in the dark- age debate over whether or not intuition is a legitimate form of intelligence. It is. Just accept. Now is the time to quickly move on to the only relevant question worth asking today, which is," Knowing this is so important, how do I activate my own intuitive intelligence now?" The good news is that the answer to this question is, "It's easy. Your intuition may be dormant, or sleepy, or dull, but it is never absent. It is an indelible, natural hardwired part of all human beings, including you, and a little awareness on your part is the secret key to kick-starting it back into action."

Start by playfully becoming aware of your intuitive sparks as they fly. Consider them important and meaningful messengers. Intuition is a subtle and fleeting energy, and is easy to miss, so you must pay close attention to your inner world if you want to get going. Notice all your subtle "hits," including gut feelings, swift instincts, hunches, flashes, and wonderings. Take it further than merely noticing. Capture these fleeting thoughts and anchor them into your world by voicing them out loud. Intuition left rambling silently in the head is often lost while intuition that is voiced out loud is not only captured but strengthened.

This means that every single time you get a fleeting thought, a gut feeling, an "ah-ha" moment, a brief insight, however outrageous it may be, quickly say it out loud, without hesitation or thinking, as though noticing a colorful bird fly past your inner window. Have no need to validate or verify its value. Simply state that you are aware it is there and let it be.

Once you express your intuitive flash out loud, notice how it affects your body. The body supports intuition by responding to it with an energetic "click." By that I mean something inside your body will resonate when intuition is valid, and leave you feeling satisfied, as though "it fits". I use the expression, "that pings" when feeling out an intuitive hit. Some say," that sounds right," Or "that feels correct." It doesn't matter what you say. It only matters that you notice how you feel once you do express your intuition out loud. Does your intuition resonate in your body? Dies it feel true? Accurate? Fit like a glove?

Be sure your intellect stays out of this process. Being the controlling force that it is, it often wants intuition to be validated immediately, or dismiss it, when in fact, intuition cannot be validated immediately in most cases. Intuition reveals the unseen, what is coming, on its way, the hidden, and therefore it often needs a little time before it is validated.

When you voice your intuitive feelings out loud and feel the impact of your openly expressed intuition on your body, you will know whether or not what you're saying has validity, by how you feel long before your intellect can ever verify it. Try it. You will see that this is true.

Whatever you do, don't over think all of this. That is death to intuition. Feel things out, on an energetic level. Quickly. Everything is energy. What is positive, in flow, in the service of all, what is good, feels good. What is not in flow, not in alignment with your path, feels "off", energetically dissonant, not true or at ease feels that way as well. Only by voicing your intuition you can discern how it feels. Then you can decide if it has any merit.

At first, when reactivating your intuition, you may not feel much at all, especially if you are not in the habit of paying attention to how energy affects. you. One way to improve your intuitive intelligence is to relax and breathe as you "check out the vibes" so to speak. To help you quickly relax so you can check in with your vibes, clench all your muscles and hold your breath for about ten seconds. Then exhale deeply and release your muscles at once and shake them out. Then, go back to breathing easily and peacefully. Following this say out loud any intuitive feelings or sensing you have, however fleeting or vague tit may seem, and with a calm breath, notice how expressing your feelings affects your body. Your throat. Your belly. The hairs on the back of your neck. You arms. Your spine. Are you relaxed or are you braced for something? Take it easy. Don't force your awareness. Notice your breathing. Is it deep? Is it shallow?

Next, if possible, jot down your intuitive feelings and flashes in a small pocket notebook that you carry with you. The feelings, insights and flashes you feel today may be forgotten tomorrow. BY writing them down you will be able to go back and refresh yourself, of their input. This can be highly useful to have when making decisions. Before you give an answer, check your notebook to see if therein you find any clues from your intuition on the matter. Eight out of ten times there will be something to guide you if you are faithful in writing things down. Don't worry about this assignment being too burdensome to do. Try is for a few days and see what happens. In most cases you will get evidence that tracking intuition likes this works. Then you ill be hooked. This little notebook you are writing in will soon become the most important book you own.

Finally, once you name it, claim it. When you get a hit or a hunch, or a bright idea, act on it. Don't hold back and "play it safe". You will loose out. It you are afraid to act on it, a least share your intuitive insight with someone, so that you have more than you to say "I td you do." A witness to your intuition is one of the quickest ways to validate it. Its one thing to have you say," Darn I knew that." Its quite another to have your best friend say the same thing to you. After a few such episodes you will be surprised how much more willing you re to go with the flow of your intuition rather than against it.

Many volumes can be written on intuitive intelligence and should be the bookshelves now. At least that's what my intuition told me, so I have been writing them, for years. Check them out. Especially, "Trust your Vibes." And "The Time Has Come .for accepting your Intuitive Gifts." Both are filled with many more practical tools like this. Most of all, don't waste or ignore your greatest intelligence. Activate it now and start using it today. It's the one source of intelligence that serves the entire world, becomes it is Divine. You need your intuition.

So does this world.

All my love Sonia
